Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park covers an area of 392km sq and is part of the larger 6000 km sq Amboseli ecosystem. It lies north west of Mt. Kilimanjaro, near the Tanzanian border. The park is a typical savanna ecosystem composed of several habitats; the acacia woodlands, rocky bushlands, swamps and marshes. It covers part of a Pleistocene lake basin, within which it is a temporary lake, Lake Amboseli, that floods during the wet seasons. The Park is famous for its big game, the elephants and large herds of other herbivores, the wildebeest and zebra which migrate seasonally to and from the Park. Amboseli offers a wonderful opportunity to see the breathtaking and scenic beauty of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain. |
